| I first composed this image by including the entire web.
Somehow this just did not provoke the emotional response I experienced
when I initially saw the web. The view was too busy and confusing. What
was it that was so intriguing about this web? I was certainly attracted
to this work of nature, but there was something beyond that -- something
more provocative. As I focused more closely on the web, I realized
precisely what it was that stimulated my psyche. I moved in even closer.
Yes! This was it! It was the pattern -- the pattern of intricate,
interwoven threads of silk strands and connecting spirals. It was not
just the orderliness of the fibers, however. It was how they were
accentuated and defined by glimmering droplets of moisture so precisely
and consistently positioned throughout the configurations. Like pearls
strung on a necklace, these glittering spheres clung to the tendrils of
silk producing a wondrous design of beauty and grace. This was the true
essence of the web -- a beaded wonder. |
